The Congo Water Project addresses the rural water crisis. Currently, 7 out of 10 rural Congolese do not have access to clean safe drinking water. Thousands of deaths are caused by poor water quality. We aim to improve rural water sources by drilling water wells, filtering household drinking water, harvesting rain water, and capping natural springs.
Volunteers are needed to provide safe water access to rural Congo. You can help. Priorbackground or experience is not necessary. However, training workshops and classes in the US are recommended. These classes are typically 4-5 days in length and cost about $500.
We have planned a number of trips to Congo in over the next 18 months. Group size is limited to 4-6 persons per trip. Women are encouraged to participate. The length of the trips is two weeks and four weeks. Shorter trips are not economical due to travel times. The cost of the two week trip is about $3300 and $3900 for the four week trip.
