When I was greeting friends after church on Sunday, an older and smaller female friend stopped me. She looked up straight into eyes, held my arms at the elbow, and asked me a very serious question. Why the Congo People DON'T have safe drinking water? I was shocked by question. I don't think no one has every asked me that question. And surely, not within the pass two years.
After catching my breath, and my composure, and closing my mouth, my brain went to work searching for the answer. Actually, as I was about to open my mouth not one but many answers came to my mind. All of the answers that I about to say were right BUT each would require a detailed explanation. The real reasons are many, are situational, and are varied. There is not ONE reason and therefore, not one solution. But I had to answer and get myself off the hook. So I mumbled out something to the effect that no one (in a leadership position) really cared. There is no silver bullet for there is no one single problem.
"There is no silver bullet that’s going to fix that. No, we are going to have to use a lot of lead bullets." From Ben Horowitz, The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers.
